Abstract

In everyday social interactions, we negotiate knowledge in order to minimizeknowledge differentials between us and other people. Although this takesplace in everyday life, it is not widely studied and there are few supportingtechnologies.This paper analyzes the process of knowledge negotiation and the current stateof supporting technologies. It aims to provide a knowledge negotiation model(K-NeMo) that elucidates the essentials of the process. It also provides practicalideas for possible applications of 21st century technologies for the implementationof K-NeMo.This paper will be of utility especially to teachers, technology developers, andresearchers seeking a model for the essentials of knowledge negotiations.
