Abstract

Spectators and even some translators tend to view film dubbing, not as an exercise of translation with normal constraints but more like an obstacle race where the translator has to overcome phonetic, syntactic and artistic barriers. This article sets out to tune down the importance of synchronism in film dubbing. In fact synchronism is nothing but the manipulation of the sound track of the film to creation an illusion of synchronism.
