Deux types de représentations des séquences nominales figées en coréen et de leurs formes fléchies avec INTEX
Author(s): Sun-Mee Baepp.: 147–165 (19)More LessSummaryIn this paper, we present the methodology for the construction of electronic dictionaries for frozen nominal sequences in Korean and their inflectional forms. For efficiency, we propose two independent dictionaries : one for frozen nominal sequences using list or graphical representation and the other for nominal postpositions using graphical representation. One could merge the two dictionaries into a single dictionary through the aid of the pre-defined inflectional code of each frozen nominal sequence and the inflection module in INTEX. In spite of the substantial differences between inflectional and agglutinative languages, we can describe frozen nominal sequences in Korean and their inflectional forms in INTEX.

Regroupements sémantiques dans un dictionnaire d’adverbes composés en espagnol
Author(s): Xavier Blancopp.: 167–182 (16)More LessSummaryAt first, we present semantic grups compiled in the Spanish compound adverbs dictionary. We propose four types of semantic groups : variants, series of (para)synonyms, open adverbs and adverbs organised by lexical functions. Then, we discuss the possibility of using compound adverbs to caracterise semantic classes of verbs in Spanish. Finally, we study some properties of the structures formed by a verb and adverb related or the relationship with structures formed by a predicative noun and adjective.

Adverbes figés en contraste: Les formes PDETC du français et de l’italien
Author(s): Michele De Gioiapp.: 183–202 (20)More LessSummaryA comparison of frozen adverbs : PDETC forms in French and in Italian A contrastive analysis is made of some frozen adverbs in French and Italian having the following structure :[N0 V] Prep Det C =:[Max agit] dans la coulisse([Max agisce] dietro le quinte)The syntactically classified samples were taken from three corpora : the lexicon-grammar of French frozen adverbs (M. Gross 1990a), the lexicon-grammar of Italian frozen adverbs (De Gioia 2001), and the comparative lexicon-grammar of French and Italian frozen adverbs (De Gioia 1995).The analysis focuses on the syntactic functioning of the PDETC adverbs and on their constituent structure in the two languages. Furthermore, since comparative lexicon-grammar enables comparison at a number of levels, the French PDETC adverbs were contrasted with their semantic equivalents in Italian, which are not only PDETC. This allowed a discussion of various types of correspondence. The results of the analysis constitute a useful basis for further contrastive studies and for translation.

Verbes spécifiques de durée avec une complétive en dei «pour que P» en coréen
Author(s): Eun-Jin Jungpp.: 203–225 (23)More LessSummaryThis article examines duration-specific verbs in Korean, i.e. the verbs which introduce an complement of duration no matter its syntactic position wihin the sentence. We can count about twenty duration-specific verbs. We will focus, here, on verbs with a sentential complement P dei-ei « for that P ». We study the syntactic properties of these verbs, as well as the distributional properties of the constituents of this type of elementary sentences. We aim, finally, at representing various uses and constraints in the form of automata for the recognition of the expressions concerned.

Verbes de sentiment « figurés » de la classe N0 V N1sujet_intentionnel
Author(s): Rolf Kailuweitpp.: 227–243 (17)More LessSummaryThis paper accounts for French and Italian figurative verbs of emotion. These verbs are ambiguous in so far as they have a “physical » and a “psychological » meaning. French verbs are extracted from LG Table 4. I will consider the idea put forward by Lamiroy that the psychological use a of given verb can be determined by a reduction of syntactical flexibility in comparison to the physical use. Evidence will be given that at least as far as Table 4 verbs are concerned this is not the case. The approaches of Bouchard and Van Voorst who propose general semantic rules concerning the relation of physical and psychological meaning also fail to account for the data. This will be illustrated by a closer look on French and Italian verbs of anger. Although the devices of metaphorical interpretation can be explained, these devices are not general rules that permit the derivation of a psychological use from a physical use in a given context. Lexicalization seems to be idiosynchratic. Hence, LG has to provide separate lexical entries for the two constructions of any existing ambiguous verb.

Some remarks on the application of a lexicon-grammar
Author(s): Sébastien Paumierpp.: 245–256 (12)More LessSummaryThe French lexicon-grammar today is the most complete, in particular for the description of verbs. As we have undertaken to convert all these tables into computable data in order to apply them to electronic corpora, we have encountered many problems due to their size. In this paper, we describe some of these problems and present some ideas for solving them.

Adverbes ordinaux et introducteurs de cadre: Aspects linguistiques et cognitifs
Author(s): Catherine Schnedeckerpp.: 257–287 (31)More LessSummaryThis analysis deals with ordinal adverbials, a category of items that has never been exhaustively investigated. They will be tackled from three main points of view. First, we will try to determine and highlight the properties that would permit us to connect these elements with the so-called “domain markers”. Then, in order to throw light on the particular way they structure discourse, we will also study their formal and semantic features to see whether they are actually — as is often said — used to indicate a particular position in a series. It is both possible to explain through the features of the adjectives from which they are formed, and more particularly through their partitive nature : (1) the constraints which they impose on the items they introduce, at syntactic, semantic and enunciative levels ; and (2) the particular discoursal configurations they are involved in. Finally, we will deal with the function and usefulness of these items, in both the discoursal and the cognitive fields.

Préfixation des verbes de déplacement tchèques
Author(s): Marta Ungermanovápp.: 289–318 (30)More LessSummaryPrefixation of the Verbs of Movement in CzechPrefixed verbs constitute a major proportion of verbs of movement (as defined in 1.1. of the article) in Czech. We consider those formed by the prefixes : při-, od-, vy-, v-, do-, roz- and s-We examine their syntactic properties, especially their compatibility with different locative complements, trying to find typical properties or restrictions for each prefix. Whilst traditional grammar ascribes a meaning to prefixes, we defend the position that a prefix derives its meaning from its interaction with the other elements of the sentence (not only the root verb), and that all elements of the sentence contribute to create the meaning of a sentence.
