Un Cas De Constructions Inverses: Donner Et Recevoir
Author(s): Gaston Grosspp.: 1–44 (44)More LessGaston Gross: a case of reverse constructions: donner et recevoir.Besides the common use of the verbs donner (to give) and recevoir (to receive) in their concrete meaning, these two verbs may take nominal predicates such as in the sentencesBob gave his agreement to Jo's leavingJo received Bob's agreement for leavingThere, complex relations link the subjects and objects of both verbs. The author classifies various types of analogous constructions according to the verbal nouns found in direct object positions. Three main types are defined and, in one case, a relation (a Harrisian type of transformation) is shown to hold between donner and recevoir.

Trois Constructions a Dependance Entre Sujet Et PP
Author(s): Kjell-Åke Gunnarsonpp.: 45–81 (37)More LessKjell-Åke Gunnarson: Three Constructions with a Dependency between Subject and PP.This study bears on relations between subject noun phrases and prepositional phrases found in various positions. The author discusses the action of a rule that extraposes noun complements of the subject head. Thus prepositional phrases are moved to positions that superficially appear as complement position. Complex conditions on the application of the rule lead to the distinction of three types of constructions that depend both on the main verb and on the content of the noun phrases.

Remarques Sur La Construction Des Verbes De Mouvement En O V-le En Coréen
Author(s): Hong Chai-Songpp.: 83–144 (62)More LessHong Chai-Song: Remarks on Verbs of Movement in Korean: the Construction O v-le.Complex constructions in Korean are built by means of verbal conjunctional suffixes. The suffix Ie is shown to have semantic selection on the subordinate verb which must be a verb of movement. The syntactic properties induced by this conjunctional suffix are studied and contrasted with other intuitively related constructions. This study leads to disambiguation of the construction and allows a systematic study with respect to the lexicon: close to 300 verbs have been found to enter the construction. One finds both proper Korean verbs and Sino-Korean ones. All convey the meaning of movement of the subject. The syntactic and semantic status of the constructions has been found to be strikingly similar to the situation found in certain Romance languages.

Le Placement Linéaire Des Clitiques Pronominaux Non-Sujets En Français Contemporain
Author(s): Lidija Iordanskajapp.: 145–188 (44)More LessLidija lordanskaja: The Linear Ordering of Pronominal Non Subject Clitics in Modern French. The author reviews the classical problem of the placement of clitics in French with respect to the order of the source complements. The new element brought into the study is the use of Melcuk's theoretical framework. Dual deep structures that combine the morphology and the prosody of sentences constitute a base set on which mapping on superficial structures is defined. Superficial structures are dependency trees. A system of formal rules is defined and shown to account for the most complex situations described in the literature.
